Blind Vengeance (1990) (TV) HighlightsDeconstructing Dracula First Published in The Last Hurrah #5 - October 2000 Deconstructing Dracula Tim Groome examines Hammer Films’ 1958 release OK - cards on the table first. This is one of my very favourite films of all time so any comments and observations are of course biased. It’s definitely not one of the greats in the sense that it innovated or moved the cinematic art forward in any sense; but, well, it’s entertaining and it does contain much that I find enjoyable and of interest. And that is what we must remember with a product of popular culture like this: the prime reason for watching it is to be entertained, and the prime reason for it being made was to make money. That said, where to begin? We all know the plot - but how many of us have actually read the book? I imagine there have been many critiques, but we won’t let any of that detain us.
