Me, monkey, moose, and viper agreed that the forum mods should go ahead and post a ruff draft of the forum’s official written rules. The purpose of posting these rules it to clearly outline all of the things that a member can or can’t get banned for. I believe that it would be a great tool for the newbs to quickly learn the rules, and to prevent arguing about ambiguous bans or abusing modding.
I am only asking that this system be temporary, acting as a trial basis. If it works out, then perhaps it will be instated preeminently. I am asking that the other mods will please agree to follow the "written rules system" for only 2 or 3 weeks. At the end of that time, we can do an evaluation to decide if we want to keep using the system or not. This will not work unless all of the mods agree to follow these written rules as being the only guidelines for banning people.
Here is the proposed list of rules. I am sure that it could probably use a bit of editing. I am hoping that the official list will be agreed on very soon so that the trial period will begin shortly after.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please follow these guidelines. Not following them may result in being banned from the forums.
Bannings may result with or without a prior warning. Moderator decide to ban people based on a number of different factors.
Pictures
--Pictures should be considered PG
--No nudity, porn, or extremely gruesome pictures.
--Do not post pictures that are over the size of 640 pixels wide unless the thread was originally created by you. (be courteous about page stretching)
Posting links
--You may post a link to whatever you want; but if the material on the target page is not safe, then a proper warning and de5cription of the target must be provided.
-not safe = content that is not allowed to be posted directly in the forums, such as: nudity, gruesome pictures, personal information, and also does not contain anything malicious such as a virus.
--when posting block links, you must provide the name of the account that the link will block.
--No posting referral links
Spamming. If many people agree that you are being annoying, then you may be accused of spamming (the term is used loosely around here).
Note: I think that some of the spamming guidelines should require that a warning be issued before a ban, since the definitions are more open for interpritation between mods. what do you think about that?
--Avoid making numerous worthless or totally immature posts.should require warning
--No one word posts
--Do not excessively and repeatedly abuse features such as (posting with huge font or posting a stupid picture) should require warning
--Do not bump extremely old topics unless you are adding important information regarding the past discussion.
--Persistent and troublesome egg spammers will be banned everywhere possible
--Do not post with an alternate account to avoid a ban. This is a serious offence, your alternate account may be given the maximum ban time.
--Do not spam in group forums to raise your post count.
--Posting the same message to multiple boards is not allowed.
Flame wars and arguments
--No defamatory statements: Defamatory statements are, for example, statements that contain certain kinds of untrue factual information about a person or a company that is derogatory.
--Flames and arguments in a thread are usually tolerated. It becomes a problem when 2 or more people are constantly fighting and arguing in multiple threads that is causing a disturbance.
--Insulting and troublesome newbs (trolls) will not be tolerated.
Advertising
--No advertising, of either personal or business nature that does not pertain to this website.
--You are allowed to advertise eggs or groups in a pre-existing thread, as long as the link is relevant to the topic (do not abuse this privilege)
--Do not make new thread topics advertising groups or eggs, (exception as follows)
-PowerEgg status members may advertise groups as a new thread topic. Members below PowerEgg status may Not advertise groups.
Posting personal information
--Do not post people’s personal information on this website, whether it is of somebody who belongs to this website or not. Personal information includes information such as, but is not limited to: full names, phone numbers, home address, myspace profile links. You may post your own personal information only if you can prove that it is indeed your information.
Deleting thread topics
It may be necessary for us to delete thread topics that are dysfunctional, stupid, or extremely controversial. The reason for this is to make way for more interesting and fun topics, therefore making the forums a better place to visit. Please feel free to message a mod asking why your topic was deleted.
--If your topic gets deleted, do not re-post it in any main forum other than the Sandbox.
End Note: We moderate in attempt to make RE a better place to visit and we work hard to do it. Please be respectful to the moderators. If you have a problem with a moderator’s decision then message a moderator to discuss the issue, we will work with you.
Now is the time to make any suggestions for things to add, take out, or re-word.

the "pictures must be pg" rule is strait from weasel. however, it has not ever been enforced very well. the only thing that ever gets enforced actually is just posting nudity.
should we just say fuck weasel and raise it to pg13? I doubt he is really going to give a shit.

Nice thing to think when it’s a questionable pic, just LINK the damn thing, it gets the job done and it saves you from a ban, you’ll never get banned for a Link with a Warning of what it is.

what do you guys think of the 2 spamming guidelines that said should require a warning? I think that will prevent any loophole for the mods to be able to ban somebody for stupid reasons, which we all know has definatly been an issue from time to time.

but so many people already have "questionable", or rather, "definatly not pg" pictures in their profiles. Thats why I am thinking that the picture rule should just be defined as "no nudity". I doubt that. weasel will say anything.

well, the way i see it, if people don’t want to see nudity or gross things, they can go in a Christian chatroom and whack it to Jesus. This is a prank site, and many pranks involve gross/offensive things.

as for the pg/pg13 rule in terms of nudity, just say something like "female nipples and male and female genitalia arent allowed", that should take acre of it. although there was that one avatar of a girl getting screwed by a odg that didnt show anything and i believe the user got banned, but something like that could probably just count as "porn".
also there should be clarification about the banning periods

Gee guys, thanks for keeping me updated throughout the process. An egg mod posts a topic about forum rules and sends me the message "We would appreciate it if you would agree to follow the written rules system". Omgloloid, i had cso[ mucgh imputs to dis, liek t2 fank momm.
Other than that, it looks good. Doesn’t say anothing about bombs though. Content Guidelines say you’re not allowed to post eggs about bombs, so I think it should apply to the forum. Nothing posted here about "bombs" is useful or correct information anyway. The exception would probably be commercial fireworks. Any homemade stuff is out.
