Other cultures and countries are one of my favorite things to learn about. My interest probably started when I was in 6th grade and our teacher had us draw a family tree. I discovered some kewl shit about my family and I was just thinking about this project today. That assignment was probably one of the best ones I’ve ever been given because it sparked an interest that continues with me to this day.
So just for shits and giggles, post your genealogy background and the country you live in now. Also are you related to any one famous. Any of your ancestors do cool shit?
I guess I’ll start.
I live in America, but I’m:
-5/8 Irish
-1/8 English
-1/8 Scottish
-1/8 Alsatian
Also, I found out that everyone with my last name is descended from an ancient British king. So yeah, I’m royalty. lulz.

Hmm, im mostly german i think, i have nevery really looked into that strangely.
i reside in the US.
and my great grandmother is the oldest lady in nebraska.. haha not really a famous thing, but i couldnt think of anything else

German Italian Polish. 1/4 Polish but couldnt tell you the rest.

I’m Canadian.
In 1661 Lois $#@^*^$# moved from France to the east coast of Canada.
Shortly afterwards a village was founded with my last name as it’s name in either NB or NS. I don’t remember which.
Then a couple generations later the family started moving further and further West.
Now we are in AB.

I live in Florida, and 100% Irish. My grandparents were Irish, and both of my parents are Irish.
I’ll look for a free geneology somethin-er-uther to see if I’m related to anyone famous.

I’m 1/8 native American, 1/8 french or Irish we aren’t too sure anymore, 1/2 puerto rican, and 1/4 Italian. The reason i said that about the Irish/ french is the family immigrated from ireland but may have been from France originally. and our family name means "of the church"

My full name is 100% Irish. I don’t know what my last name means, but my first name means "lover of hounds" in Gaelic.
I am a 4th generation American though, but I suppose we have to keep the old country traditions alive.

Apparently my dad’s side of the family, around the time of it happening, were buddies with the guy who set up and founded Rhode Island.
Also, (no relation), but I have the same last name as a famous slave revolt leader, and no, I am not black :P hah
